Jelly Beans

Jelly Beans

You can do a lot with jelly beans...

We tasted jelly beans
We smelt jelly beans
We felt jelly beans
We built with jelly beans

This was our writing motivation for the week. We are learning to write a sentence with description (see, smell, touch, taste). Aroha 4 had so much fun doing this!

Here is our STEM challenge it was to build a tower using jelly beans and toothpicks. Here is our first attempt at making it. As you can see each group tried different ways. This task lets us use our creative thinking hat! We are also getting better at participating and contributing.

Tasting
- We all loved trying the jelly beans. We found that each colour had a different flavour
- Blue: bubble gum
- Purple: grape
-Orange: orange
-Black: liquorice
-White: lemonade

Smell
- They smell like candy
- It smells sweet

Felt
- Its hard but soft inside
The longer in my mouth the softer it gets

Thanks for reading! See you next week for Samoan language week!

Paper planes are FUN!

In Aroha 4 we made paper planes.
All we needed was paper for our equipment.

We worked in pairs to make our planes. One person was taking the photos and the other person was making the plane.

Sterling "We loved doing it"
Sierah-Jaye "We folded the paper in half"
Sharon Jane "I liked making it because it was fun"

This linked to our Inquiry this term which is Science- Physical World. We were testing the force and how far it would go. We also made predictions. Some of us got close predictions others were way off 😂 but it was so much fun.

Here is us outdoors ready to make our predictions and fly our awesome planes!

Bridge Action

WELCOME TO TERM 2!

We picked up like we never had a break! Business as per usual and we loved it. This term we have had new students join us and we are so excited to continue our learning journey with them.

Warm welcome to Samuel, Shenol, Kaiyah, Nive and Jairel

We started off the day with a London Bridge challenge. Where we had to build a bridge so that the water can flow under the bridge.

Sterling: "I found building it taller was a challenge because it kept on falling"
Aeshal- "It was hard when the bridge would fall down"
Adam- "Building the stairs was fun and strong"
John- "I made a bridge with lego"
Sierah- Jaye- " We built it tall with sides"
Pslams-  "It was a strong bridge"
Izabella- "We built a bridge"
